Our Profile

The little singers of Tokyo (L.S.O.T.) was founded in 1951 by Shinichi Hasegawa and the late Father Paul Annuih to introduce Renaissance Music to Japanese children. In 1955, L.S.O.T. became the Japanese branch of the Pueri Cantores.

Our repertoire covers a wide range from Gregorian Chant to Contemporary works. (Right: Singing Gregorian chant in Basilica Superiore di San Francesco cathedral, Assisi)
Regular concerts are held twice a year. Furthermore, L.S.O.T. also takes part in domestic and overseas concert tours with Japanese and foreign orchestras as well as operatic theaters. In 1998, L.S.O.T. performed in Mahler's Symphony No. 3 conducted by Claudio Abbado when the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra was in Tokyo, receiving high praises.(Below left:with C. Moreover, L.S.O.T. has performed with many world famous operatic theaters, such as, Bolshoi opera, Kirov Opera, Vienna State Opera, etc. (below left: Members of the Little Singers of Tokyo in backstage of an opera. Below right: with W.Gergiev)

Since 1964, L.S.O.T. organized 26 overseas concert tours and has given guest performances at many international choir festivals. In 1990, L.S.O.T. Was winner of the children's choir division at the International chorus competition sponsored by E.B.U. (European Broadcasting Union). In 1997, L.S.O.T. took part in the "Festival d'Automne a Paris" Performing Toshio Hosokawa's works at a portrait recital, which was received with great success.(Below: with Toshio Hosokawa at Festival d'Automne a Paris)

Furthermore, L.S.O.T. cooperated in CD production of Faure's Requiem in the original version conducted by J. Fournet in November 1998, which was highly appraised.
